100 Precinct Community Council Returns From Summer Break

By Nicholas Briano

The 100 Precinct Community Council returned to its regular meetings this past Wednesday after a two-month summer recess.

Several awards were handed out at the meeting this week, including Cop of the Month for July and August, as well as the 100 Precinct Cop of the Year award.

The cops of the month for July and August, Police Officer Beercot Dudley and Police Officer Jessica Alvarado, were awarded for their work on August 2 when they responded to a house party on Beach 65 Street around 2 a.m.

The cops observed 40 to 50 people in the street throwing bottles and beginning to fight one another. The officers then saw a group of men jump into a van and flee the scene of the party.

The two officers pursued them for several blocks into the back of Carlton Manor on Beach 72 Street, where they apprehended the men without incident, finding a .32-caliber handgun hidden inside the car. The arrestees were known gangs member from the Far Rockaway area.
