An armed mugger was captured by police shortly after allegedly robbing four people within one hour last week in Neponsit, ending a short-lived crime spree in a relatively crime free neighborhood. Far Rockaway's Joseph Williams (left) lit up the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden last Friday night as the 20-year-old boxer won the Daily News Golden Gloves Super-Heavyweight Novice Championship. Williams, representing the Rockaway Ropes Boxing Club, recorded a majority 3-round decision over 18-year-old Patrick Neumann from Gleason's Gym. 25-Year Rockaway Resident
Beresford Henry died in Far Rockaway on April 17. He was 90 years old at the time of his death. Born in Costa Rica, Central America, Henry came to Rockaway 25 years ago and became heavilly involved in the Kingdom Hall of the Far Rockaway Temple of the Jehovah's Witnesses, of which he was an active member.
