Scholars Academy Golf Team Off To Winning Start

Scholars' Academy's Boys Varsity Golf Team played its first match in the PSAL Queens North Division last Thursday, April 2.

The match was played in the shadow of the Throgs Neck Bridge at the Clearview Golf Course. They faced Bayside High School in a tight match, but the Scholars' Academy prevailed winning 3 matches and tying 2.

Xander McDonald-Smith, Ryan McCabe, and Max Kempner demonstrated great success by winning their matches. With the sun setting and the shadows growing long, Smith and Kempner each won a close match with a victorious last hole putt. Lucas Hanson and Robert Henschel also played well and ended up tying their opponents.

On Tuesday April 7, Scholars' faced off against Jamaica High School. The match was played in chilly conditions at The Clearview Golf Course. The Scholars' Academy golfers defeated their opponents by winning 4 matches and tying 1. Lead golfers McDonald-Smith and McCabe easily won their matches in 5 holes. Kempner and Henschel won their matches in 7 holes and Hanson battled for a tie over 9 holes. The next Scholars' Academy match will be held on April 21 against The Queens High School of Teaching at Douglaston Golf Course.
