John J. Moore

WWII Veteran

John J. Moore, a longtime Rockaway resident, died on April 14.

Moore was born in Manhattan and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as Aviation Mate of the USS Intrepid, Pacific Theatre WWII and received two Bronze Stars. He later worked as an iron worker.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Moore and Joseph Moore C.F.X. and sister, Muriel Sibree

He is survived by wife, Catherine Joyce Moore; son, John Jr. (Kim); Daughters, Christine Spinelli (John), Catherine Otton (James), Monica Maloney (John), Barbara Doyle (Palmer); brother, Edward Moore; Grandchildren, James Jr., Christopher M., Jacquelyn, John A., Joseph, Mary, Meagan, John F., Christopher J. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach, New York. Memorial service will be held at Saint Francis De Sales Church. Interment will be at Saint Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
