Charity Football Game Honors Fallen Firefighter
The Danny Suhr Bowl, honoring the New York City Fire Department firefighter who perished in the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, will take place on Saturday, April 11.
Start time for the game is 1 p.m. at Kings Bay Field, which is located on Coyle Street and Avenue Z in Brooklyn.
Danny Suhr was a Rockaway native who played linebacker and captained for the FDNY team from 1985 to 1997, and the highly regarded Brooklyn Mariners, a semi-pro team.
A 50-50 raffle will also be held with Yankee ticket giveaways.
Tickets are priced at $10 and children will be admitted free. All proceeds will be donated to the Danny Suhr Scholarship Fund. The fund was established in 2002 to help students who would like to play football at a private school.
After the game, more funds will be raised with an after-party at the Mariners Inn, which is located on East 35 Street and Avenue S.
