Detectives from the 100 Precinct are looking for a teen who fired shots at the people who were manning the door during a Sweet Sixteen party at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Beach 90 Street last Friday night. Police sources say that police officers responded to a call of "shots fired" at about 11:40 p.m. on April 3 at 333 Beach 90 Street. They found the victim, James Trainor, 54, of Rockaway Park, with a gunshot wound in his upper right thigh. The victim told police that he had been monitoring the door when a group of young men who had not been invited to the party tried for the second time to gain entrance. An argument ensued and the young men backed off and seemed to be leaving, when one of the unidentified teens fired a series of shots at the door, one of the shots striking Trainor. At first, sources say, Trainor did not realize that he had been shot. After a beat, however, he told the other officials at the door that he was wounded. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where he was treated and released. Specialized police units and the Queens South Task Force were called in to search for the shooter and his friends, but they had fled the scene. Crime Scene detectives reportedly found spent .22 caliber shells at the scene. More...

Dear Editor, And I thought Broad Channel was a safe place. I've changed my mind, because I got robbed. He or she took everything I held dear. Things my Grandma Ella gave me from her mother. And I really don't think they were worth much. But to me they were worth thousands, never to be returned. And what can the cops do? Nothing, I'm sure, even if they tried. More...
