A Sweet 16 party in Far Rockaway was cut short, earlier this month, when police responded to noise complains and rounded up at least 54 people - adults and juveniles - at an abandoned house on Lewmay Road.

"Somebody reported a loud noise and trespassing [in an abandoned house]," a police source said about the March 21 incident.

Eleven adults, who were found to have outstanding warrants, were arrested; 14 juveniles were checked for priors and released to their parents; and 29 received desk appearance tickets. None of the young girls picked up was arrested.

"We checked their IDs and if there were no warrants then they were let go," said the police source.

According to a parent, whose son was arrested, police arrived between 11:30 p.m. and midnight. He also said that alcohol was being consumed during the party at 30-06 Lewmay Road.

The building, according to the Department of Finance, is a threefamily home, which Department of Building records show has not been granted certificates of occupancy. It is owned by Litton Loan Serving LP, as the servicer for GSR Mortgage Loan Trust 2006-4F.

A No Trespassing notice was affixed to the door after the party incident.

The first question that comes to mind, when reading this article is: why in the world would adults be drinking and partying with underaged children? Never mind the fact that it was in an abandoned building. I happen to know a young 14 year old who was there when this happened. The child admits that he broke curfew to attend this party but also states that there was no indication that this building was abandoned. He said that there was electronics and furniture inside. My biggest problem is the way it was handled by the police. As always, the males are targeted again. Sure, we all know that they should not have been in there but who says that girls don't have to obey the law as well. What type of message are we sending to our youth? Why were some given preference according to their sex? The young man that i talked to also arrived there with a 16yr old friend. By the time it was all over, the 16 year old had a charge and the 14yr old was picked up by a relative. Thank God, no one was hurt in there.
