PHC On NYSDOH List For Breast Surgery
Peninsula Hospital Center has been listed among the New York City hospitals permitted to perform breast cancer surgery services for Medicaid FFS and Medicaid managed care programs under the New York State Department of Health "selective contracting" initiative. Only hospitals approved by the New York State Department of Health are eligible to provide breast cancer surgery services to Medicaid beneficiaries under this initiative.
This NYSDOH approval augments proactive breast health screening programs already in place at Peninsula Hospital Center. Breast health is a focus of a long-standing collaborative breast health initiative involving the Hospital Center's Family Health Center, radiology and surgical teams. Additionally, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, PHC offers a free breast screening program wherein uninsured women over the age of 40 can obtain free breast screenings and mammographies when warranted.
