Guilty For Dealing In Poughkeepsie
A Far Rockaway man is looking at more than a year in an upstate jail after pleading guilty to dealing heroin in Poughkeepsie last month, according to a spokesperson for the police department in that community.
Dwight Knowles, 30, of Far Rockaway, entered a guilty plea last Wednesday in Dutchess County Court to criminal possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony, and could earn Knowles up to 18 months in prison.
In court, Knowles admitted he had several small bags of heroin in his possession with intention to sell when police arrested him on January 8. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25.
Knowles was originally arraigned in Poughkeepsie Court, but was transferred to Dutchess County Jail and released on $10,000 bail, according to police reports.
Upon obtaining a search warrant and entering Knowles house after he was arrested, police found 35 bags of heroin and seized a large amount of cash and drug paraphernalia from his home as well.
