Dorothy Fraher-O'Hara, a longtime Broad Channel resident, died February 17.
"Dottie Doellman" as many of the old timers in Broad Channel knew her, was born in Jersey City on February 3, 1920. Along with her family, she moved to Broad Channel at the age of two. She attended St. Virgilius elementary school and Far Rockaway High School. She married the late Lawrence Fraher in 1942 and had four children, Larry, Jerry, Dorothy and John. At the age of 39, she became a widow. She worked at United Airlines and at Jamaica Savings Bank until her retirement. She married the late Mike O'Hara in 1982.
Fraher-O'Hara is survived by her children; stepdaughters, Maureen and Linda O'Hara; grandchildren, Lawrence and Heather; great-grandchildren, Israel, Isabella and Mila-Rose; and nieces, Mary Rose O'Hara and Irene, Wilhemina and Kathy Doellman.
Funeral arrangements were kept private. Donations may be made to St. Virgilius R.C. Church in her memory.
