Every year on Superbowl Sunday thousands of Long Beach Polar Bears brave the frigid water and cold temperatures to raise money and attention for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The foundation grants wishes for sick children and their families. The PS 256 at PS/MS 43 staff raised $2,100 through the sale of Polar Bear sweatshirts. More ... Marcella I. The eighth-grade ballroom dancers at PS/MS 183 won one of two gold medals awarded in a citywide competition on Thursday, February 5. They also advance to the final championship on June 4. The competitors danced in various categories with grace, talent and eloquence. Julissa Colon and Lamell Perez danced the Fox Trot; Isaiah Maddox and Imani Johnson danced the Tango; Adasia Monroe and Elijah Groves danced the Swing; Victor Damaso and Fatima Davis danced the Merengue; and Danielle Harris and Omar Sarr danced the Salsa.
