Clearing Up A Few Things

Dear Editor,

Because I was supporting the candidate of my choice in the upcoming councilmanic election, I have been accused of denying my fellow citizens of their right to vote.

First, I denied no one their right to vote; those people who want to run for office should make themselves aware of the rules and regulations of the election board. If they don't, then the names appearing on the nominating petitions that are deemed improper by the election board are removed. It is the responsibility of the candidate to insure the lists are accurate and meet all criteria; if not, they have only themselves to blame.

Second, the person who wrote a letter to the editor regarding me was badly misinformed; in fact he didn't know what he was writing about. I am a veteran of the Korean War and was honored and proud to serve my country.

I am not the president of RMAC, although I have been a member for many years.
