SJEH Sets Blood Drive For February 27

St. John's Episcopal Hospital invites the community to a blood drive that will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009, from 9:30 am to 5 pm at St. John's Episcopal Hospital Boardroom. St. John's is located at Beach 19 Street.

"There is no substitute for blood donations," says a hospital spokesperson. "The donation will have an immediate lifesaving impact and help hospitals such as St. John's to provide vital patient care. Your single donation of whole blood may help more than one person after it has been separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma."

To donate, a person must be at least age 17, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good health. People more than 75 years-of-age may continue to donate blood if they meet all donor criteria and present a physician's letter allowing them to donate. Before donating, be sure to eat at your regular mealtimes and drink plenty of fluids. Please bring photo identification. For more info please call SJEH at 718-869-7326 or 718-869-7329.
