DiResto Endorsed By Police Unions
Two of New York City's largest police unions, the Lieutenant's Benevolent Association (LBA) and the Captain's Endowment Association (CEA), announced their endorsements of Glenn DiResto for City Council on Tuesday. DiResto served New York City as a police officer and rose quickly through the ranks to lieutenant. Union leaders cited his service in the front lines of the city.
"As a retired NYPD officer who has spent time on the streets solving problems, Glenn would be the best candidate to address the needs of the community" said LBA Vice President Lou Turco. In his first run for political office, DiResto has campaigned for a City Hall that is more responsive to regular New Yorkers in his south Queens district.
"For too long, political insiders have dominated city politics," DiResto said. "It's time for a change. The machines have been running things forever and look where it's gotten us. We still have no lifeguards on our beaches, our schools are unsafe and overcrowded, and our transit is the worst in the whole city. "I've fought for New Yorkers in the front lines, and if elected I will do the same in the City Council." Glenn will bring his vast experiences from the Police Department to serve our city.
DiResto's platform calls for increased city aid to transportation, hiring of police officers, and education. "Rockaway has been locked out of City Hall for generations," DiResto said. "Our neighborhood deserves to be heard."
The special election for the 32nd City Council District is Tuesday, February. 24. Every Vote Counts," says DiResto, urging everybody to get out and vote.
