A Common Sense Approach To Gun Violence

Dear Editor,

Gun violence is an epidemic in this country, and it's past-time for our elected officials (local, state and federal) to acknowledge and address it. How many more lives must be lost before "our elected officials" stop with the political games and pass "federal legislation" that will stop this nonsense?

"We" elected these people because of their "promise" to address and find "solutions" to the issues of concern to their constituents - locally, statewide and federal. But, most of them lied! It is past-time that our "elected officials" be held accountable for the nonsense that is taking place in the communities they represent. They know (or should know) what is happening in their city, state and this country! If they don't know, then we surely have a problem.

Common sense is a required skill to be an effective leader or representative, and without that we are left at the mercy of "intellectual idiots" that have no clue. Many are college/ university educated but lack the main ingredient to be effective -

common sense. This is the "21st Century" and with the technology our government uses to trace and track the enemy, no one can tell me they can't trace, track and "stop" the drugs, gangs and gun violence in this country! That's only common sense!

Let's trace and track where the drugs and guns are really coming from! Surely, the addict, and "illegal gun purchasers" are not the "root" of the problem. It's past-time to find out who is really financing, permitting and profiting from these destructive elements that are invading our communities. Drugs, and guns are money making tools, so who really profits? Lives continue to be lost, families are devastated, communities are decaying and still there is no resolution!

Just as I ask residents in our communities to "snitch," I now call upon "our representatives" to do the same. After all, you are an "elected" official and our "spokesperson" for our communities. It's past-time to "snitch." It's past-time to put "fear" aside and do the right thing! Please, stop and think about this: those who sell drugs, use drugs, and in possession of a firearm are incarcerated; however, the "real" drug and gun suppliers are still out there making our lives a living hell!

A little common sense is all that is required. Enough is enough!
