Bricklayers And Allied Craftworkers Recruit Apprentices

The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Local 1, will conduct recruitment from January 30 through December 18 for 20 bricklayer-mason apprentices, 20 pointercaulker cleaner apprentices, 10 plasterer and 10 stone mason apprentices.

Applications will be available in person only at the International Masonry Institute, 12-07 44 Avenue, Long Island City, New York, on January 30, February 27, March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26, September 25, October 30, November 20 and December 18. Applicants will be admitted from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with processing being held until 10 a.m.

The committee requires that applicants be at least 18 years old (proof of age required at time of selection); possess sufficient reading and math comprehension skills to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and related technical instruction as determined by exam given with applications; be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprentice program without posing a direct threat to their health or safety and the health or safety of others as determined in the interview and pre-employment program.
