Busy School Block To Finally Get Light

By Nicholas Briano

The busy and often dangerous intersection near Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School will soon become safer when the New York City Department of Tran-sportation (DOT) installs a new traffic light.

Community Board 14 was notified this week that the Department of Transportation plans to install the light at the intersection of Beach 84 Street and Shore Front Parkway where hundreds of kids and cars cross before and after school on weekdays and church ceremonies on the weekends.

Community Board 14 District Manager Jonathan Gaska said the board had been fighting for years to get DOT to agree to put up the light.

The installation, approved last week, is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
