Beverly Baxter, a Rockaway resident, died January 26.
Baxter was born in Jericho, Long Island. She graduated from Jericho High School and attended Columbia University where she majored in theatre, creative writing and journalism. She also attended a semester at the prestigious Yale School of Drama and participated in a summer stock production at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Centre in Waterbury, Connecticut. She lived in Rockaway since 1992 and wrote the "On the Beach" column for The Wave. She was active in various Rockaway organizations including the Queens County Parade Committee, the Rockaway Republican Club, the Rockaway Homeowners Association and the Rockaway Action Committee. She was also a member of the West End Temple. She worked at her family owned company, Brown Builder's Supply Company, for the past 20 years.
She is survived by Owen Baxter; mother, Linda Imperatore; father David Salkind (Bonnie); grandma, Perle Brown; sister, Cindy (Larry) Tell; brother, Fred; and nephews, Henry, David and little Sammy.
