A Crossing Guard's Wrath

Dear Editor,

I am writing with regard to the letter to the editor, "Why Are Some People Better Than Others," that appeared in the January 23 edition of The Wave. I have to say that I am shocked at the school crossing guard Theresa's behavior. The parent that received that abusive treatment by Theresa should consider herself lucky because Theresa was on the corner! She is not at her corner more often than she is at her corner. It is known amongst the parents that "common folk" are not allowed to "drive down 'her' block!" "Common folk" would be those of us that do not own luxury vehicles (Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Audi); those of us that are not Italian, don't live in Neponsit, didn't come from or reside in Brooklyn at any time and last but not least, those of us that cannot do her a favor.

My husband and I have had many arguments, over the years, with Theresa about being able to drive down "her block" to drop off our four children. However, it is so much easier and much more pleasant to cross at Beach 134 Street with Mrs. Murray. Upon calling the 100 Precinct, I was told that Theresa does not and never had the authority to issue summons to anyone.
