The Requirements Of A 'Great' Senator

The following letter was addressed to Governor David Paterson.

Dear Editor,

I met you at Franklin Roosevelt's home. FDR proved that it is not a sin to be rich - only a sin to be an enemy of the non-rich (which, unfortunately, many in the upper strata become.)

As FDR was hated and is still hated by those in his class who don't carry an altruistic ethic ("that man, that traitor"), so too is Caroline Kennedy derided for her attachment to the struggles of common people.

All that is required to be a "great" senator is readiness to vote every time, on the good side of every issue. All that is required is a good heart. Caroline Kennedy has that, and is wanted by the people of New York. You will guarantee a bright political career for yourself, and not fall into the bad-guy category, if you act by refusing to take Caroline's "No" for an answer.

The Charles Schumer's and Hillary Clinton's are mortified over the prospect of Caroline Kennedy's ascendance because she, JFK's daughter, is not within their corruption circle.

Mr. Whol hit the right cord here. Unfortunately, the governor made the wrong choice, or maybe the right one regarding his own interest. Furthermore, the behavior of his friends who are supportive of this choice has been puzzling. i.e. introducing Kristen Gillibrand, a poster girl for the NRA, to their community in south east Queens that have the highest instance of death by gun shot in New York City today.
