The spirit of giving was alive and well in the Rockaway Beach community this past Christmas, especially among the members of the newly formed Rockaway Jetty Organization. The organization donated toys, candy and ham to children in the Rockaway community.

Members of the charitable organization, which was formed to help needy children in the community, traveled to the general Post Office in Manhattan to retrieve letters to Santa written by Rockaway families. A number of families were selected and the children's letters were answered by Santa's helpers from the Rockaway Jetty Organization. The way in which the toys were delivered was truly a sight to behold.

When the children spotted Santa's helpers at each home, they cheered wildly.

"The smiles on those kids faces really said it all and made us feel terrific," said Les Vazquez, Chairperson.
