Flavors Beyond Borders
News Events/Travel Editor/Host • WNYX - TV Morning News • 12:00 noon on UHF Chs. 35 & 26 Monday - Friday

Let's think beyond borders and spread love, Gina, Gurgaon, India. FLAVORS BEYOND BORDERS is an event that aims to bring the people of India and Pakistan together on the momentous occasion of their 60th independence day. This historic event, which I attended, brought food and music as mediums to spread the message of peace, brotherhood and harmony among the people of the two nations. We feasted on a hearty meal specially prepared by renowned chefs of the two nations, enjoyed the musical performances by acclaimed singers, visual presentations and was enthralled by the keynote speaker.

The program was hosted by Kiran Khalid, a freelance broadcast journalist covering famine in West Africa and the earthquake reconstruction in Pakistan.

The next night at the Indian Consulate, was an evening celebration of the 60th Independence Day, August 14, from British rule.

Check in with me at Kennedy's around 4 p.m., Saturday if you have news to put in my column. Otherwise drop a note off with bartender Jim and he will pass it on to me. Julian Longhouse's stepdaughter, Casey Libbey and grandson, Joe Grillo and Judy and Mike Longhorn performed in the Stagedoor Musical Group in Lakecliff, N.Y. Grandson, Joseph starred in "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Stagedoor. Alfie Pope celebrated her birthday, August 18, with her longtime friend John, who presented her with an outstanding beautiful necklace. She was thrilled. She has known John so many years and is so close to him. Missed Joe Kilbride, one of my corner bachelors around the bar. Apparently he was in the hospital to recharge his heart battery. They say he is doing fine, but say a prayer for him anyway.

John Connolly; Msgr. Curran, Pastor, Professor of Theology and Philosophy and Man of Letters. Thank you Fr. Vincent for your kindness, good humor and dedication, for opening our eyes to the world.
