Health & Harmony

By Dr. Nancy Gahles

DR. NANCY GAHLES DR. NANCY GAHLES One thing is for sure and that is, this day will pass and a new day will dawn. Such is the cycle of nature. That you can depend upon. Each new day brings new growth, new opportunities. No two days are alike.

When I turn on the television or open a newspaper, I am inundated with information that there are gloomy days ahead and it is going to get worse. One thing I know for sure is that when you are constantly bombarded with negative information, you come to believe that it is so and you act accordingly. This attitude makes one sick. The winter months, in and of themselves, bring about a bit of gloom. All the talk about recession, job loss and bleak outcomes causes depression. The depression of body and soul. It can cause one to lose motivation. Another thing I know for sure is that when one loses motivation and hope for a bright future, the organism deteriorates. The organism in question is you. It is collectively US. We see our nation now in a tailspin of despair.

I have operated outside the proverbial box since after college when I discovered that you do not have to follow the mainstream in order to be prosperous. Quite the opposite. I found that you merely have to follow your heart and abundance will find you.

In these precarious times, when the economics of your life may wane, never doubt the dawning of new opportunities. Simply because the pundits tell you that the economy is bad and is going to get worse doesn't make it so for you personally. There is a phenomenon called deliberate intent. According to the laws of quantum physics, all possibilities exist in every moment. You create the manifestation of reality when you give your attention to an object and it "collapses" into consciousness. Your consciousness of that which you are observing or to which you are giving your attention will manifest as your reality. Simply put, if you see the glass half empty, it is half empty. If you see the glass half full, it is half full. It is all a matter of your perception. It is all a matter of that which you choose with deliberate intent to focus on. All possibilities are before us and we have the freedom to choose. This is what distinguishes humans from animals. We have free choice to think what we want and to design our destiny. That is called health. Never forget that. You are the master of your own fate. The external situation that surrounds you, if not of your making, is not yours to operate in. You do not have to buy into it. That fiasco was someone else's creation and it need not touch you in a negative way. Get creative. Get in touch with your inner self. What do you want your life to look like? Visualize that all the time! When you are confronted with a situation that is NOT what you want, see that as a contrast. Contrast highlights what you don't want and brings you into a place where you can imagine what it is you

DO want by comparison. Often, the best ideas originate from being in the worst scenario. That is how you know what would be better for you. Each time you can picture a better feeling scenario for yourself, you are coming closer to the creation of the perfect life for you. That being the case, this dismal picture of recession and depression can serve as a major contrast to the

way in which you visualize your happiest, most abundant life. Excellent! In gratitude for this opportunity to make lemonade from lemons, I say get back to the drawing board and live your best life. There is no time like the present. There is a Chinese hexagram called chaos and it is interpreted as being two sides of the same coin. Polarity. This means that within one thing is the seed of another. It says that out of chaos comes great opportunity. This is your mandate. Today is the day, for it will never come again.

Kalidasa, the Indian poet/playwright, who lived in the late 5th century B.C.E., is the author of a beautiful poem, one that I often read to start my day. You may want to cut it out and read it at dawn yourself.
Listen to the exhortation of the
dawn!
Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.

In its brief course lie all the verities
And realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth, the glory
of action,
The splendor of beauty;
For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision;
But today well lived makes every
yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day!
Such is the salutation of the dawn!
May The Blessings Be!
