Weiner Receives 'A+' From Veterans Group
A veterans group awarded Representative Anthony Weiner a perfect score for his work on critical issues facing veterans. This year, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) Action Fund scored House members based on 13 votes during the 110th Congress, including issues relating to veterans' health care, the GI bill, mental health, and homeless veterans support.
Representative Weiner's perfect score is the result of his tireless advocacy for New York City's veterans. As a co-sponsor of the Post-9/11 GI bill, Weiner voted to make college affordable to troops returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill, which IAVA Action ranked as its top priority, benefits 8,500 veterans in New York City. He also co-sponsored a bill which guarantees that soldiers wounded in combat would be able to receive pay bonuses.
"New York City's veterans have earned our respect and support," said Weiner. "I am proud to be able to continue to fight for veterans who risked their lives to defend our country."
