Howard Stroman

Bus Driver

Howard Stroman, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died December 21, 2008.

Stroman was born in Far Rockaway on July 8, 1935. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Far Rockaway. He graduated from Far Rockaway High School in June 1954 where he was active in the Swing Band, Senior Band, Talent Show, Art Club and the comic opera "H.M.S. Pinafore." He served in the US Army where he served active duty from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of the Selective Service USAR Standby Reserve from 1956 to 1964.

Stroman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Germaine Louis Désrue; and brother, Robert Stroman.

He is survived by his children, Howard Prince Stroman II (Candida), Bernadette (José) Nunez, Nancy Stroman (Timothy) and Suzanne (Scotty) Scott; grandchildren, Sara Elisa, Howard D. III and Travis Stroman, Anthony and Mario Nunez, MarieGabrielle and Nicole R. Jones, Suzette Scott and Elizabeth Reed; great-grandchildren, SontayMiquel Colley and Coleman Prince James; brothers, Albert Prince Stroman (Delta) and Richard Stroman; sister, Anita Jones; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home with visitation at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Rockville Cemetery in Lynbrook, New York.
