Love Triangle Turns To Attempted Murder

Alocal man, enraged that his ex-girlfriend was now going out with somebody else, reportedly hit his rival with a pipe and then ran him over with his car, court records show.

Police say that Jason Walsh was rammed so hard by the front of the car driven by Christopher Zampino that Walsh's flying body shattered the windshield. The impounded automobile sits in the parking lot of the 100 Precinct on Sunday afternoon.
Sources at the office of District Attorney Richard Brown allege that Christopher Zampino, 23, of 8000 Shore Front Parkway, was engaged in an argument with Jason Walsh, 25, in front of 301 Beach 84 Street at about 11:30 a.m. on November 9, when Zampino grabbed a metal pipe and began beating Walsh on the head, causing massive bleeding.

Police say that Zampino then jumped in his black 1993 Honda, backed up and drove forward at a high rate of speed ramming Walsh so hard that he bounced into the windshield and was thrown to the street.

The windshield of the Honda was shattered by the force of Walsh's body and his blood was splattered over the front end of the car.

Walsh suffered severe injuries to his head and arm, as well as a broken left leg. He was transported to the Jamaica Hospital Center, where he remains in good condition, according to official records.

Zampino was arrested at the scene. He was arraigned on November 10 in Queens Criminal Court, charged with attempt- ed murder and two counts of assault.

His bail was set at $75,000 and his next court date will be November 24, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
