In late summer of 1980 ground was broken for a new building on the north side of the old St. Joseph's building fronting on Brookhaven Avenue between Beach 20 Street (Central Avenue) on the west, and Beach 19 Street on the east. On the Beach 19 Street side an enclosed pedestrian bridge was constructed to connect with the nurses' quarters just to the east near Beach 17 Street.
Today's historical view appeared in the C of C's Rockaway Review Magazine in summer of 1980.
