FDNY Drills To Rescue Errant Swimmers
Both the fire department and the police department drill regularly on Rockaway beaches to protect against drowning incidents and to rescue errant swimmers. Last week, the fire department hit west end beaches for one of those drills. Firefighters and divers took part in the drill, which role-played a man missing in the surf.
