PHC Angels On The Bay Receives Donation From P.S. 105 Penny Harvest

The children in one of P.S. 105's first grade classes recently visited Peninsula Hospital Center's Angels on the Bay Pediatric Unit, bearing a Penny Harvest donation of $1,000! Even though these first grade children range from only five to six years old, their class collected more pennies than any other class in the school. Liz Sulik, PHC's Director of External Affairs, took the children for a first hand look at the pediatric unit. Under of the guidance of teacher Shawnya Johnson (right), and math coach, as well as Penny Harvest Coordinator, Helene Schneider (left), the children spoke with hospital personnel and became acquainted with the pediatric unit's ambiance, including the mesmerizing fish tank. Assistant Head Nurse Dale Murray, RN (far right), was very pleased to receive the donation on behalf of the hospital center. "Incredible gifts like these," said Nurse Murray when thanking the children, "are used to purchase special items for our patients to make the Angels on the Bay unit feel more like home to the hospitalized children and we are so grateful for their hard work."
