Rockaway Theatre Company Opens 2008 Season With Annie
Ten-year-old Janna Sturgis, daughter of RTC's Nancy Sturgis, stepped into the title role and with her canine companion Sandy, played by Lola, captured the audience. Joining Annie at the orphanage are Caroline Kelly, Samantha Mackoff, Caitlin Byrne, Sophia Zweifler, Indigo Signoretti, Emily Bibby, Reilly Ann Charles, Kate Calciano, Miranda Cornell, Celine and Carly Ebert, Paige Humprey, Casey Stabiner and Leila Sturgis. The little ladies entertain the audience as they sing and dance to the choreography of Kathy Valentine. Adult cast members include Jeanne Barra, a newcomer to the RTC, who plays the role of the miserable Miss Hannigan; Jai Sada, who plays Daddy Warbucks, the father figure to the orphans; Nicole Mangano, as Warbucks' secretary and Gal Friday, Grace Farrell; Bruce Rebold and Catherine Leib, as small time con-artists Rooster Hannigan and Lily St. Regis; and many other fine performers.
Annie will be performed through May 18 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. The show is held at the Post Theater, Fort Tilden, Gateway National Recreation Area. Proceeds from the Mother's Day matinee will be donated to North Shore Animal League America, which will have puppies, kittens and adult pets available for adoption at 12 p.m. on May 11 at Fort Tilden.
