'It's My Bark Day' A Day For The Dogs

It's My Bark Day, an activity filled day for dogs of all sizes, will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rockaway Freeway Dog Park, located between Beach 81 and Beach 83 Streets.

The event is co-sponsored by the Allied Rockway Foundation for Animal Recreation and Fitness (ARFARF), Rockaway's first official dog owners' association, and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

Dogs and owners can enjoy the various activities planned for the day. A silly pet tricks contest will be held, with prizes for the best large and small dog routines. Raffle baskets will feature goodies for pets and their owners.

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals will offer low cost micro-chipping. The North Shore Animal League adoption van will also be present with puppies and adult dogs ready to be adopted.

Tips on canine obedience will be offered from certified dog trainer, Lisa Long.
