Rockaway Earth Day Brings Crowds To Boardwalk

Despite cloudy skies and cold weather, a large crowd came out last Saturday for Rockaway Earth Day '08 on the boardwalk and parking lot at Beach 29 Street.
The day, meant to raise awareness of the natural resources along Far Rockaway's waterfront, was hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance. Among the 23 other organizations involved were the American Littoral Society, the city's Department of Environmental Conservation and the National Park Service.

| On the Museum of Natural History mobile museum, children were given the opportunity to draw the different habitats of people who lived in Kenya and Mongolia, and of Native Americans in Montana. |
