for larger version       Baseball's Melting Pot The Bayswater Jewish Center in Far Rockaway will present "Where Have You Gone Joe DiMaggio," on Sunday, June 8, at 11 a.m.
The lecture, sponsored by New York State Council for the Humanities will be presented by Dr. William M. Simons and is free and open to the public. Dr. Simons, Professor of History at SUNY Oneonta and a recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, is a specialist in baseball studies. He serves as the managing director of the Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture, the long-running academic conference held annually at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. In addition, he has edited four baseball books.
