Detective Lieutenant

Stanley Carpenter Jr., a longtime Roxbury resident, died April 29.

Carpenter was born in Winooski, Vermont. He was a detective lieutenant with the New York Police Department. He was a retired commanding officer with Queens SVU and a 10-year special investigator for the Queens District Attorney.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Carpenter; wife, Elaine MacIntosh Carpenter; daughter, Kerry; brothers, James (Judy), Thomas (Laura) and Bob (Ellen); sisters, Katherine (Robert) Owens, Patricia (Dan) Campbell and Mary (Charles) Nutter; grandson, Kieran; sisters-in-law, Gail (Eugene) Clifford and Jean (Bill) Jark.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Sunday, May 4, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 5 at St. Genevieve's Church. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, New York.
