Don't Mind The Booming Explosions, It's Only The Beach Under Attack
By Howard Schwach

If you're traveling along Rockaway Beach Boulevard in the vicinity of Beach 65 Street at any time on Tuesday or Wednesday and hear some booming explosions, don't worry about it. It's only that the beachfront is under attack.

NBC television will be shooting a new television series entitled "Kings," at that location from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 6 and 7, and the scene they are shooting posits an attack on the "Kingdom of New York". The series is a modern take on the story of King David. The story will be set in a city that's the seat of a modern-day kingdom. The central character, like David, will rise to fame after an heroic act: slaying the much bigger and more powerful Goliath.

Community Board 14 District Manager Jonathan Gaska says that he plans to be on hand.

"A military attack on Rockaway Beach? Sounds exciting," Gaska said.

He added that locals should expect to hear lots of pyrotechnics.

"The police have been notified," he said. "We expect they're going to get some calls."
