Downtown Far Rockaway Spruced Up During Earth Week
By Miriam Rosenberg

The triangle at Mott and Central Avenues that greets visitors gets a sprucing up.
In recognition of Earth Day, Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corp., sponsored by National Grid (formerly KeySpan) and The League, held a cleanup and planting day at the triangle at Mott and Central Avenues in the business area of Far Rockaway last week.

The April 24 event gave area youth, from various schools, a chance to take part in community service and develop pride in the area where they live.
National Grid's Renee McClure, second from left, supervises some of the teenagers who took part in the cleanup.
Renee McClure of National Grid; Claudia Zeldin of The League; Linda Plummer (president of RDRC), Valerie West and Janet Henriquez, also of RDRC, join with area youth volunteers for a photo.
