St.Virgilius/BCAC Girls Defeat St.Pancras In Thriller

The St. Virgilius/BCAC Pee-Wee girl's softball team began the 2008 season with an exciting 6-4 victory over St. Pancras at Central Field in Glendale on April 19.

The Lady Shamrocks were led by pitcher Kelsey Trudden, who struck out 14 St. Pancras batters, singled and scored a run. The Shamrocks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first, after singles by Carolyn Crocker and Kaitlyn Courtney, and a walk to Molly Day were followed up with a bases clearing double by Gabrielle Schirippa. Molly Day's two run homer in the second inning drove in Amanda Clark. Kelsey Trudden was singled home by Barbara Bradford for the final run.

Strong defensive play in the field by Chloe McEneaney, Victoria Henglien, Kyrsten Kane, Sydney McEneaney, Bailey Weiss, and Kaylie LaVoun held St. Pancras to four runs. BCAC will try to keep winning in their home opener on Sunday at 12:30 pm in Memorial Field against Our Lady of Hope.
