Queens District Attorney Celebrated By 100 Precinct CC
By Nicholas Briano

Queens District Attorney Executive Assistant Jeese Sligh accepts the award from 100 Precinct Community Council President Danny Ruscillo at Wednesday night's meeting.
The 100 Precinct Community Council honored Queens District Attorney Richard Brown on Wednesday night for his hard work and dedication in cleaning up the drug and violence problems that plague areas of the peninsula.

DA Brown was unable to accept the award at the meeting held in the Knights of Columbus Hall at Beach 90 Street on Wednesday evening, due to a severe case of laryngitis. However, his executive assistant, Jesse Sligh, a frequent visitor to council meetings, spoke on his behalf and accepted the award from 100 Precinct Community Council President Danny Ruscillo, who commended the Queens DA for their leadership and support throughout Rockaway.

"This is a wonderful partnership," Sligh said in reference to the council's relationship with the DA. "I can't begin to tell you how honored everyone at the Queens DA is to receive this award."

Sligh praised the work of his staff and the community in addressing the areas of concern. He continued, the community deserves a lot of credit, too, for playing an active role in creating a safer place to live.

DA Executive Assistant Jesse Sligh stands with the 100 Precinct Law Enforcement Explorers, who have seen an increase in recruitment over the last several months.
He also focused his praise on the work of the 100 Precinct Law Enforcement Explorers. That program, sponsored by the precinct, encourages teens 14-20 years old to pursue a police career by teaching them law enforcement basics while providing valuable community service.

"I am happy to see things turning around," Sligh said. "We must encourage more participation in the Explorer program and get the youth more involved in the community because the Explorers are doing great things."
