Police officers from the 100 Precinct in Rockaway Park, executing a search warrant, arrested an Arverne man on April 11 and seized more than 90 bags of marijuana.

Police sources say that the warrant for the basement apartment at 69-21 Hessler Avenue in Arverne was executed at about 6 a.m. last Friday. Officers searching the apartment found four Zip-lock bags of marijuana next to the defendant's bed. The occupant of the apartment, identified as Anthony A. Clark, 36, was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree. In addition, a large plastic bag containing 92 smaller glassine bags was found next to the bed; loose marijuana was found in a jar under the kitchen sink; one bag containing the drug was found inside the refrigerator and another glass jar containing the drug on top of the refrigerator.

In all, police say, more than a pound of the controlled substance was found in the apartment, as were two state-of-the-art scales for weighing the drug prior to putting it into the glassine bags.

Clark was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on April 12. Aspokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that the accused was held on $5,000 bail for his next hearing, which was set for April 28.
