Jeanette Stone Thomas

Jeanette Thomas, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 5.

Thomas was born in Brooklyn on June 13, 1934. She was an active member of First Church of God. She participated in many activities including the children fellowship hour, children's choir, Girl Scouts and the NYC Public Library Adult Literacy program.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Thomas Jr.

Thomas is survived by her husband, James Thomas Sr.; son, Ronald Craig Thomas Sr.; daughters, Lillian Diane Sully and Sharon Alice Salter; grandchildren, Yolanda, Ronald, Aaron, Derrick, Anthony, Marcus, Adrian, Antoine, Kimberly, Sharese, Saquan, Robert and Kavon; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice McMurray, Lillian Burgess and Theresa Woodson; godchildren, Vanessa, Mary Alice and Joanie; friend, Mary Overstreet; children in-law, Mary, Beulah, Adrien, and Veline; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at the First Church of God. Interment was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, New York.
