Michael Peterson, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 10.

Peterson was born in Brooklyn. He was a retired firefighter from Ladder 143.

He is survived by his father, Joseph Peterson; mother, Mary Armstrong Peterson; wife, Virginia Peterson; daughters, Kathleen and Jennifer; brother, Thomas; sisters, Patricia McCrory and Maura Silhan.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
