Local Nominated As Air Force General

The son of an Arverne couple has been nominated by President George Bush for appointment to the rank of brigadier general in the United States Air Force. Colonel Samuel A. R. Greaves, son of Randolph and Dawn Greaves, will pin on his first star upon confirmation by the Senate, which is expected in the near future. Greaves, who has been in the military for nearly 26 years, is currently the Wing Commander of the Launch and Range Systems Wing at the space and missile systems center in California. After earning a BA in electrical engineering from Cornell University, Greaves earned a master's degree in computer science.
