St. John's Episcopal Hospital honored its doctors on National Doctors' Day with a breakfast on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Nearly 400 physicians, surgeons, podiatrists and other clinicians on staff were honored for their dedication, commitment to excellence and the outstanding patient care they provide. Doctors' Day was first observed on March 30, 1933, the anniversary of the first use of anesthesia. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed a resolution marking March 30 as Doctors' Day.
