Richard Alexander Thompson
Carpenter

Richard Thompson, a longtime Rockaway resident, died March 30. He was 81.

Thompson, a carpenter, was born in Jamaica, West Indies on February 17, 1929. According to family, he was a skilled and talented home builder and master carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Thompson; sons, Anthony and Hugh; brothers, Byron, Wilfred and Rupert; sisters, Pansy and Sue; daughter-inlaw, Elizabeth Thompson; sisters-inlaw, Elizabeth and Monica; grandchildren, Brittney and McKenzie; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home, with visitation at Gaffney’s Friendship Chapel. Disposition was by Fresh Pond Crematory in Middle Village, New York.
