Joseph Morris, a Rockaway resident, died March 19.

Morris was born on March 10, 1923. He studied voice, piano and pipe organ, which led him to become a Minister of Music for various churches, including First Baptist Church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Bethel AME Church. Morris also played at St. Camillus’ annual Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Morris.

Morris is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lillian Morris; children, Denise, Joseph Jr. (Diana), Myria, Martha, Nicole (Elijah), Cory and Jonathan; grandchildren, Kiara, Raven, Jordyn, Jada and Geneva; sisters, Jacqueline Broadwater and June Pearse; adopted sons, Pastor Charles Norris Jr., Pastor Norman Scott and Pastor James B. Jones; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Cobbs Funeral Home in East Elmhurst, New York.
