Louis W.Edwards

Louis Edwards, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 9. He was 87.

Edwards was born in Grenada, Mississippi on July 14, 1920. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and the Freedom Fellowship Church, where his son is the pastor.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, David, Charlie, Fred, Archie and Richard; and sisters, Ethel, Rose, Ella and Mary.

Edwards is survived by his sons, Kenneth, Clifford and Pastor William Edwards; grandchildren, Joshua, Serenity, Daniel, Ashley, Selah, Nathan, Elijah and Mayah; and sisters, Helen, Mattie and Annie.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted

to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Services will be on Monday, April 14 at 8 p.m. at the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
