The Greening Of Rockaway

As part of Mayor Bloomberg's PlaNYC 2030 program to plant one million trees citywide over the next ten years, the greening of Rockaway began this week. Concrete and dirt were dug up along various places along the peninsula including Seagirt Boulevard (pictured). Photos by Miriam Rosenberg
Among the places new tree plantings were done was on Beach 16 Street, Seagirt Boulevard between Beach 16 and 17 Streets (see photo), on the median on Beach 28 Street and Seagirt Boulevard, along parts of Beach Channel Drive including Beach 43 Street in front of the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Beach 73 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard from Beach 73 Street to approximately Beach 80 Street.
