St.Mary, St.Gertrude Parishes Celebrate Good Friday
Churches Combine For Stations of the Cross Commemoration

Father Jim Cunningham of St. Mary Star of the Sea welcomes worshipers to St. Gertrude The Great as the two churches combined for the Good Friday procession of The Stations of the Cross.
The ceremony begins as participants walk past St. Gertrude's Church on Beach 38 Street and Beach Channel Drive. Along the way congregants stopped at 15 "stations" as they remember the passion and death of Christ through hymn and prayer.
Participants do a re-enactment as soldiers surround Jesus carrying the cross to his crucifixion.
On the lawn of St. Mary, Father Cunningham leads the final Station - as Jesus is entombed - while the faithful watch from outside the gates of the church.
