Erhard, Chris Moore and Luke Erhard
In their finale to the season the New York Stars Mite Team participated out in the Long Island Hockey Association League King of The Hill tournament at Cantiague Park.

Due to their phenomenal success this season, the Stars were moved to the "A" division to play against the elite seams that include the L.I. Gulls, L.I. Royals and the Westchester Express.

The Stars won 57 games this season and 4 tournaments. Wins against powers like the Philadelphia Blazers, NJ Colonials, Mercer Chiefs amongst others, gave the Stars the confidence they needed for the King of the Hill.

With teams like the L.I. Gulls, L.I. Royals and the Express, the Stars were not given much of a chance but they savored the thought of playing in the "A" division. The Stars opened up against the top seed of the leagu,e the L.I. Gulls, and were believed by many to be overmatched, but not by the Stars themselves. The Gulls scored a late goal off a bad bounce to tie the Stars 3-3.

The game created quite a stir in the arena.

The Stars defense led by Chris Moore, Kevin Erhard and the Goaltending of Luke Erhard, limited the opposition to just 2 goals over the next 2 games, which put the Stars in the championship game against the Long Island Gulls.

The Stars scored the first goal of the game and the Gulls scored the next 2. The Stars scored another late goal to tie the game and send it to overtime.

With 3 minutes left in overtime "miracle on ice" occurred when the Stars scored for a 3-2 OT victory against the heralded Gulls team. Luke Erhard was magnificent in goal, limiting the potent Gulls to just two goals and Chris Moore added a critical goal and logged many minutes double shifting on defense throughout the tournament.
