Leopold Rieara Leopold Rieara, a longtime Rockaway resident, died February 28. He was 79. Rieara, a housekeeper, was born in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands on May 2, 1928. He was a painter, carpenter, designer, tailor and mechanic. According to family, he enjoyed cooking, keeping a clean house, whistling and listening to classical music and jazz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Rieara Sr. and Malvina McClean; two sisters; six brothers; first wife, Thelma; daughter, Malvina Rieara; and son, Leopold Mark Rieara Jr. Rieara is survived by his sisters, Marie and Camy; brothers, Donald and Otis; wife, Lena Holmes; Gail Rieara-Rodriguez (Samuel), JoAnn Rieara, Arlene Rieara, Lynette Sauter, Calvin Ashby and Crystal; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home. Interment was at Trinity St. John Cemetery in Hewlett, New York.
